Program Structure
The Bachelor of Podiatry Practice program is offered in internal mode at Rockhampton campus over a period of four years, whereby the first year of the program provides foundational health sciences knowledge and skills, with the podiatry-specific courses following in the remaining years. The program has a strong health science foundation, including anatomy, physiology, microbiology and psychology, as well as specialised courses specific to podiatry including gerontology, paediatrics, biomechanics, musculoskeletal conditions, diabetes, pharmacology and surgery. Students will integrate theory into clinical practice and over the course of the entire program meet the required 1000 hours of internal and external clinical placement necessary for registration. In
addition students will have opportunity to blend real-life clinical experience with contemporary best-practice theoretical education in an on-site integrated health clinic.
Admissions to the program is typically on the basis of the completion of senior secondary school, however alternate pathways for mature age students are available.
