This program produces graduates capable of designing, documenting and administering the contract for construction of residential and all classes of commercial buildings.

Students should note prerequisite requirements and course availability when planning their study program. Courses are offered annually. It is suggested that courses be studied in the sequence shown in the recommended study schedule. The individual's workload may be varied to balance work and family commitments. If assistance is required, contact the Program Advisor. Students should actively seek employment within the building industry.

Prospective students should note that exemptions from courses within the program may be given where their previous study at AQF certificate 4 level or higher fully meets the learning outcomes of a course. Students should enrol not into a course for which they are seeking an exemption. 

Students must complete 24 courses/144 units of credit as outlined in the recommended study schedule.

Prior 2013 entry Building Design students only

BLAR12038 Building Industry Contracts is now replaced by BLAR12055 History and Theory of Building Design.

BLAR13042 Building Sector Management is now replaced by BLAR13053 Urban Design and Development. 

BLAR13047 Construction Economics 1  is now replaced by BLAR13052 Spatial Design Theory and Application.

As part of the approved program transition, students who have completed BLAR12038, BLAR13042 or BLAR13047 before 2013 are not required to study the relevant replacement course.
