CK24 - Bachelor of Speech Pathology

Program Aim

The Bachelor of Speech Pathology aims to develop graduates who are able to apply their specialist knowledge of communication and swallowing disorders in the varied settings in which speech pathologists practice. To facilitate the high level of independent clinical decision making required of graduates, the program takes a problem-based approach to learning. There is also an emphasis on interprofessional education to equip graduates to work effectively with their fellow health professionals in today's work environment.

Clinical skills are honed whilst on clinical placements which occur in many different contexts including education, disability services and hospitals.

Program Structure

The Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) is a four year degree consisting of 32 courses, taught in English, which normally takes four years of full time study. The program structure requires successful completion of all core courses in the principles of normal communication and communication disorders, and how they relate and interact with the other elements that form the practice of speech pathology, together with three courses in clinical speech pathology practice and successful completion of work-placements in the health sector.
