CG48 - Associate Degree of Workplace Health and Safety - No new enrolments in 2013

Program Aim

This program is a paraprofessional associate degree based on the study of Occupational Health and Safety. It presents students with the opportunity to undertake a plan and apply their discipline of study to specifically designated industry career path option. It has been designed to prepare professionals in Occupational Health and Safety with specifically applied knowledge, attitudes, skills, and initiatives in the areas of:

 

  • Occupational Hygiene;
  • Ergonomics;
  • Safety Science, and
  • Occupational Health and Safety Management.

Graduates may apply for admission to the Bachelor in Occupational Health & Safety with advanced standing of 96 units of credit.

  

Program Structure

Students must complete 16 courses/96 units of credit, which include:

  • 11 core CQUniversity courses;
  • 1 of the following university advanced level elective course;

# For Students who wish to undertake a Rehabilitation Coordinator role in Queensland there is an opportunity to take the Queensland Competency (Q-Comp) exam within OCHS13011 (Queensland legislation and technical application). Successful completion of the exam allows students to apply for a Q-Comp Workplace Rehabilitation Coordinator Certificate. Please see the course profile for more information.

 

Students wanting to complete the MINE courses above, must apply to do these separately from CQUniversity and then apply for credit. Please note that graduation may be delayed if study undertaken at TAFE or another institution are not certified.

 

Equivalent of 4 industry specific specialisation Work Based Learning courses to be completed at TAFE.
