CG08 - Diploma of Aviation Theory

Program Aim

  

The Diploma of Aviation Theory is a one and a half year program designed as a transition program for students seeking an entry pathway into the Bachelor of Aviation Technology.  On successful completion of this program students are eligible for a credit transfer into the Bachelor of Aviation Technology should they choose to further their studies.    

 

The program will enable you to develop a thorough understanding of both theories and practices in aviation technology and explore the associated ethical, legal and security issues in this field.

 

Throughout the program you will study courses including aviation theory and cover topics such as aerodynamics, aircraft systems, air law, meteorology, navigation, pilot licences and ratings, air service operations, aerodromes, airspace classifications, air traffic control and flight service and handling emergencies. You will also develop sound knowledge in mapping techniques, aviation time, charts and publications, navigation computations, pilot navigation and radio navigation, the composition of the atmosphere, heat, temperature, pressure and humidity, atmospheric stability, clouds and precipitation and many other areas.

 

In addition to aviation administration you will study topics such as the aviation engine, turbo and supercharging, propeller systems, hydraulics, electrical and ignition, fuel and carburetion, flight instrumentation, lift and drag, aerial manoeuvres, stability and control, takeoff and landing, as well as flying techniques.
