Entry Requirements


A bachelor degree in any discipline from an Australian university or college; or a CQUniversity Graduate Certificate in Information Systems, or equivalent.

Candidates who have completed an approved graduate diploma such as the CF05 Graduate Diploma of Information Systems, will be granted standing of up to 4 core courses and 2 electives provided the electives are chosen from the approved list of courses for the CF05 Graduate Diploma of Information Systems.  Please see the Graduate Diploma of Information Systems handbook entry for more information.

Advanced Entry


Advanced entry
is available directly into term 2 for students who can demonstrate that they have attained the required knowledge. These students will undertake 9 courses to complete the program. To be granted advanced entry a student must:

 

1.  have a bachelor degree; and

2.  be able to demonstrate they have the required knowledge (based on the content of COIS20025COIT20228 and COIT20233); and

3.  either:

  • have two years relevant work experience; or
  • have one year other postgraduate education; or
  • have attained a final year GPA of 4.7 in their undergraduate degree at an Australian institution, or equivalent.

Students may also be granted advanced standing for one or two courses if they meet the requirements of (1) and (3) above but cannot sufficiently demonstrate that they have the required knowledge (based on the content of  in all three courses COIS20025, COIT20228 and COIT20233) to receive full advanced standing.

Exemptions for Overseas Qualifications

Please note that the Australian Computer Society's Pre-Application Skills Assessment (PASA) Guidelines for Applications states that no advanced standing, credit or exemption given on the basis of qualifications from overseas will be considered in relation to an Australian Graduate Diploma or higher degree qualification. 

Please contact the Program Advisor before applying for or accepting credit into this program for courses completed at an institution outside of Australia.
Part-Time Program of Study


In formulating their program of study candidates who are studying part-time by distance education should give consideration to their work and other commitments and the prerequisites for advanced courses, and if necessary seek advice from the Program Advisor.

Workshops


There are no compulsory workshops in this program. However, students are advised that some business courses may require attendance at workshops.

Computer Equipment Resources


Students will require access to a computer and printer. Access to the Internet is also required for some courses. The suggested minimum requirement is an IBM compatible computer. If buying a new computer, students should purchase the best quality and highest capacity they can afford. CQUniversity campuses have computers, which may be accessed by students on a 24 hour basis.

Transitional Arrangements


Students enrolled before 2012 are allowed to complete their program in the existing structure if their remaining courses are still offered.

 

Students enrolling from Term 1 2012 must follow the new program structure as outlined in the Courses section.

 

From 2012, students will no longer be able to choose the Enterprise Security Management specialisation.
