The Master program will be a 3 year part-time nominal program with the first two years common with CF66 Graduate Diploma program. Students accepted into this program will receive up to 66% credit transfer from the completed CF66 program or equivalent.
The 1 year top-up program will consist of 3 consecutive one term offering of the following courses:
CPD8 Signalling Project Definition and Planning
CPD9 Signalling Project Implementation 1
CPD10 Signalling Project Implementation 2
Each of the three courses will be available in term 1, term 2 or term 3.
The program is intended to allow the more academically capable signal engineering practitioners in the railway industry to develop a higher level of investigation/research skills, and to gain recognition in the form of a higher qualification.
The outcomes of the project undertaken by students in this program should help to push the boundary of professional practice in signal engineering and to benefit the railway industry.
Entry requirements
Students entering the Master program will need to demonstrate two fundamental attributes:
a) Sufficient analytical ability to be able to assess a complex problem and determine appropriate solutions
b) Sound knowledge of the signalling and telecommunications field Entrance requirements are based around these two criteria.
Entry paths are:
a) Completion of the Diploma in Railway Signalling with a Weighted Grade Point Average of 5.5 or higher. OR,
b) Completion of the IRSE Examination with a result of four Credits or higher. OR,
c) Completion of a higher degree and a minimum of five years in the signalling industry,
OR
d) Other qualifications and experience that demonstrate achievement of the fundamental attributes and as may be recommended by the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers industry liaison committee. An interview may be conducted where considered appropriate to determine suitability.
Computing requirements
It is a requirement of enrolment in this program that students have access to the CQUniversity website via internet. Students may be required to undertake various components of study in the program using email and the Internet.
It is strongly recommended that students have access to a broadband connection or higher to access online student resources that would include but not limited to, email, internet, video streaming, electronic assessment submission.
