On completing a Bachelor of Applied Physics (co-op) and Diploma of Professional Practice, you will be qualified to work in government-related facilities such as CSIRO, Bureau of Meteorology, ANSTO, National Standards Commission, Civil Aviation Authority and the Department of Housing. There are also employment opportunities in regional hospitals, regional health and electricity authorities and areas such as mining and exploration, mineral processing, material testing, communications, industrial process control and signal processing.
About Applied Physics
CQUniversity's Bachelor of Applied Physics (co-op) and Diploma of Professional Practice is an innovative program that takes physics into the world of collaborative employment. A great advantage of this program is the integration of two (2) six-month paid periods of approved industry experience which will give you a valuable insight into your future potential career options.
The study of physics is concerned with the observation, understanding and prediction of natural phenomena and the behaviour of man-made systems. It deals with profound questions about the nature of the universe and with some of the most important practical, environmental and technological issues of our time. Its scope is broad and involves mathematics and theory, experiment and observations, computing, technology, materials and information theory.
You will take your sound grounding in the principles of physics and apply your knowledge in the modelling analysis and solution of problems in the real world. You will also be able to communicate the results of your work to a wider audience. Graduates from CQUniversity's existing engineering co-op program are being snapped up by industry prior to completion of their studies. It is expected that the demand for applied physics (co-op) graduates will be just as intense.
