To be eligible for entry into the Master of Professional Education an applicant must demonstrate the capacity to undertake the degree by meeting at least one of the four entrance criteria:

1.     A four (4) year undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution preferably with an Education major.

2.     A three (3) year undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution plus recognised prior learning (RPL) involving continuous professional development as evidenced by at least one of:

• significant contribution to industry
• promotion in the workplace
• recognition by a professional body
• community/industry leadership
• Receipt of significant prizes and/or awards
• Personal references that attest to the applicant's high level performance in the workplace/industry/community
• Publications/patents/copyright

3.    A Graduate Certificate of Teaching English as a Foreign Language.

4.      Other undergraduate qualifications where the applicant can demonstrate superior RPL of continuous professional development in the areas listed in 2 above.

In accordance wiith Australian Qualifications Framework (see www.aqf.edu.au/masters.htm) requirements at the Masters level, graduates of the Master of Professional Education will possess a range of academic and vocational attributes such as:

• advanced knowledge of a specialist body of theoretical and applied topics;
• high order skills in analysis, critical evaluation and/or professional application through the planning and execution of project work or a piece of scholarship or research;
• creativity and flexibility in the application of knowledge and skills to new situations; and
• the ability to solve complex problems and think rigorously and independently.
