Entry Requirements
A bachelor degree in any discipline from an Australian university or college; or a CQUniversity Graduate Certificate in Information Systems, or equivalent.
Candidates who have completed an approved graduate diploma such as the Graduate Diploma of Information Systems Management CF05, will be granted standing of up to 6 courses in this program.
International students should visit www.international.cqu.edu.au for further information including English language requirements.
Advanced Entry
Advanced entry is available directly into term 2 for students who can demonstrate that they have attained the required knowledge. These students will undertake 9 courses to complete the program. To be granted advanced entry a student must:
1. have a bachelor degree; and
2. be able to demonstrate they have the required knowledge (based on the content of COIS20024, COIS20025 and COIS21001); and
3. either:
- have two years relevant work experience; or
- have one year other postgraduate education; or
- have attained a final year GPA of 4.7 in their undergraduate degree at an Australian institution, or equivalent.
Students may also be granted advanced standing for one or two courses if they meet the requirements of (1) and (3) above but cannot sufficiently demonstrate that they have the required knowledge (based on the content of in all three courses COIS20024, COIS20025 and COIS21001) to receive full advanced standing.
Exemptions for Overseas Qualifications
Please note that the Australian Computer Society's Pre-Application Skills Assessment (PASA) Guidelines for Applications states that no advanced standing, credit or exemption given on the basis of qualifications from overseas will be considered in relation to an Australian Graduate Diploma or higher degree qualification.
Please contact the Program Advisor before applying for or accepting credit into this program for courses completed at an institution outside of Australia.
Part-Time Program of Study
In formulating their program of study candidates who are studying part-time by distance education should give consideration to their work and other commitments and the prerequisites for advanced courses, and if necessary seek advice from the Program Advisor.
Workshops
There are no compulsory workshops in this program. However, students are advised that some business courses may require attendance at workshops.
Computer Equipment Resources
Students will require access to a computer and printer. Access to the Internet is also required for some courses. The suggested minimum requirement is an IBM compatible computer. If buying a new computer, students should purchase the best quality and highest capacity they can afford. CQUniversity campuses have computers, which may be accessed by students on a 24 hour basis.
Transitional Arrangements
During 2010 students currently enrolled in the E-Commerce Technology stream will be allowed to complete their degree as all but one course in that stream will still be available as they are used in other streams. Students wishing to enrol in ECOM20007 Developing E-Commerce Solutions will be directed to enrol in COIS20007 Problem-Based Industry Development B in order to graduate.
From 2010 students will no longer be allowed to enrol in the E-Commerce Technology stream.
Students have been previously informed that all Health Informatics courses were being phased out during 2008-2009.
