Students should have a mathematical knowledge equal to a passing grade in Queensland Maths B or an interstate or TAFE equivalent. If you do not have this requirement Transition Maths 2 is deemed equivalent to Maths B. You may also need to do Transition Maths 1 before commencing Transition Maths 2. ENTG13002 Technology Project Planning

In line with Faculty Policy for enrolment into Project based courses you will need to follow the process below prior enrolment into the relevant course:-

1. Develop the Project Proposal
2. Obtain an Academic Supervisor for the Project
3. Determine your Project Title
4. Obtain a Pass (or higher) result in the prerequisite course

Once you have made these arrangements, provide this information to your Program Advisor. Once approved you will be manually enrolled in the relevant course.

ENTG13001 Technology Project Implementation

1. Confirm Project Proposal is continuation of previous
2. Advise name of your Academic Supervisor for the Project
3. Provide the name of your Project Title
4. Obtain a Pass (or higher) result in the prerequisite course

Where fewer than 10 students are enrolled in any course, the Faculty may elect to withdraw the offering of such a low enrolment course, advising students accordingly in writing by email and counsel students to enrol in another course, relevant to their designated program of study.

Where fewer than 10 students are enrolled as 'internal students' in a course, the Faculty may elect to withdraw the offering of such a low enrolment internal class and run this course in external mode only, where this option is available. The faculty will transfer students into external mode enrolment and advise them in writing by email of the change to their enrolment accordingly.

The majority of courses in this program are offered in distance (external) mode. All courses in the first two years of the program (assuming part-time study progression) are also offered internally at the CQUniversity Rockhampton, Mackay and Gladstone campuses. External students of this program will be required to attend the CQUniversity Rockhampton campus for compulsory residential schools in some courses. Students are advised to check course details to determine whether a course has a residential component prior to enrolling.

A recommended study schedule for this program can be obtained from the Faculty. Students may determine their own schedule based upon credit transfers and personal study requirements.

Note: that part-time BET students usually enrol in 12 units of credit per term and full-time BET students usually enrol in 24 units of credit per term.   

An integral part of the program, and a requirement of Engineers Australia for program accreditation, is a minimum of six weeks of approved work experience in an engineering environment. This may be completed during the student vacation(s) or at other times within the three equivalent years of enrolment.   

As proof of work experience, students will be required to submit a formal report indicating the type of work done, the degree of responsibility involved, the person(s) to whom the student was directly responsible, and the general activities of the employer. This report should be certified by the employer. To graduate students must successfully complete and submit their Engineering Practice report at least six months prior to their nominated 'Expected Graduation Term' (EGT). Failure to meet this deadline may result in a delay to the expected graduation date.    

To be eligible for the award of a Distinction in the Bachelor of Engineering Technology, a student must study a minimum of 72 uc of CQU courses within the program and have achieved a minimum 'Weighted Grade Point Average' (WGPA) of 5.00 over their entire CQUniversity study program, on the first attempt in each course.

A degree with distinction will be awarded to eligible students who have achieved a WGPA of 6.00 or more for the highest graded results in 72 uc of courses in Level 2 and 3 of the program, which must include Technology Project Preparation and Technology Project Implementation, at their first attempt.

The program allows the recognition of students' appropriate previous study and experience gained from working in industry, through 'Recognition of Prior Learning' (RPL) and 'Recognition of Current Competencies' (RCC). Students will be assessed for credit transfer on a case-by-case basis and will be required to nominate courses they wish to be considered for exemption from. Grounds for that exemption, through students' demonstration of prior achievement of the CQUniversity courses' learning outcomes, must be documented. Students may only gain credit transfer for up to 50% of the overall program, on a units of credit basis.

We are unable to assess credit transfer until potential students accept an offer to study with the University, however you are welcome to do a self assessment by using our credit transfer kit which can be found at http://cqu.edu.au/credittransfer.

Please note that past studies over 10 years are not normally considered unless the applicant can supply certified documents showing that they have been continually using the required skills in the work force. Generally only TAFE diploma level is recognised for credit at tertiary level.

If your previous studies have been undertaken at CQUniversity a copy of your unofficial transcript will be sufficient proof of completion, however, if your studies were undertaken elsewhere you will have to supply a certified copy of your results plus the relevant course synopses for those courses you are claiming exemption.

In the case of recognition of competencies you must provide example of work undertaken, clearly certified by your manager, against each course you believe the competencies cover.

In both cases please do not send original documentation - all evidence should be certified copies only.

You will also need to complete the form and add this to your application Credit Application Form located here http://cqu.edu.au/credittransfer.

You can apply for direct credit against CQUniversity courses, if equivalent tertiary level study has been completed. You must supply relevant documentation (study guides, course profiles, etc) to do this. Or, in some programs you can apply for electives outside of CQUniversity range of courses. If your study was undertaken more than 10 years old, you may not be eligible to apply for this as credit.  

All CQUniversity BEngTech program plans have a defined articulation path into the Bachelor of Engineering (BE) program. Students considering articulation into the BE program should contact their Program Advisor.   

The BET program is criterion-referenced. As such, progress is conditional upon students having acquired specified skills and knowledge in previous courses of study. Students failing a course twice will be required to demonstrate to their Program Advisor why their third attempt is likely to be successfully before they enrol again.

It is a requirement of enrolment in this program that students have access to the CQUniversity website via internet. Students may be required to undertake various components of study in the program using email and the Internet.

It is strongly recommended that students have access to a broadband connection or higher to access online student resources that would include but not limited to, email, internet, video streaming, electronic assessment submission.
