CG68 - Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education

Program Aim
This program will further develop and enhance the generic skills acquired by the student at the undergraduate level.  The focus for this program will be on the development of skills appropriate for teaching at the tertiary level. The generic skills will be embedded in the courses contributing to the program.  Certification of the development of these skills will be established via robust assessment procedures.
Program Structure

The Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education has been designed by a consortium of five universities of which CQUniversity is one of the lead institutions.  The GCTE consists of four courses to the value of six units of credit each.  The program consists of one core course plus one other course at each of the home institutions.  At CQUniversity, the core course is called Tertiary Teaching and Learning while the other course (also an elective to the other universities in the consortium) is Educational Technology.  In order to be awarded the GCTE from CQUniversity students must undertake the two courses offered from their home institution.  After completing the home institution courses, a choice of two further electives from the other four universities will become available.  This program is offered only part-time and online.  It should be noted that some electives offered within the consortium might include a residential requirement. Some of the courses require linking study to professional practice, it is therefore preferable that intending students are currently or recently active in teaching - if you are unsure of how this may affect you please contact the university prior to enrolment.
