Computing requirements
You will need access to a computer for your studies. Regular access to the Internet, and email is required.

Industry placement
Students must undertake an industry placement. The normal duration of the placement is six months. The minimum placement duration is four months. Placements shorter than six months will be exception cases. Students may need to travel to and arrange appropriate accommodation in the location of the placement.
Transitional arrangements for pre-2008 students:
Existing students may graduate under pre-2008 rules. Transitional arrangements are as follows:
For articulation and graduation purposes the following courses are deemed as equivalent and both cannot be accredited:
- COIT11166 Systems Analysis & Design is equivalent to COIT11226 Systems Analysis and Specification
- COIT12168 Analysis & Specification is equivalent to COIT12200 Systems Design
- COIT11221 Software Fundamentals is equivalent to COIT11224 Computing Systems
- COIT11133 Programming Fundamentals is equivalent to COIT11222 Visual Programming
- COIT11134 Procedural Programming is equivalent to COIT11134 Java Programming
- COIT12140 Object Oriented Programming OR COIT12137 Java Internet Programming are equivalent to COIT12137 Objects and Data Structures
- COIT12170 Data Communications is equivalent to COIT11225 Data Communications
COIT12140 Object Oriented Programming will be offered in 2008 to allow students to complete under the rules governing the 2007 BIT(Co-op).
Students who started the BIT(Co-op) program in 2007 or earlier must transfer to the 2008 BIT(Co-op) after Term 3 2009.
No student will be disadvantaged by the changes to this program.
