Entry requirements
A bachelor degree in any discipline from an Australian university or college, or equivalent; or a CQU Graduate Certificate in Information Systems or equivalent.
Candidates who have completed an approved graduate diploma such as the Graduate Diploma of Information Systems Management CF05, will be granted standing of up to 6 courses in this program.

Advanced entry is available directly into term 2 for students who can demonstrate that they have attained the required knowledge. These students will undertake 9 courses to complete the program. To be granted advanced entry a student must:
1. have a bachelor degree; and
2. be able to demonstrate they have the required knowledge (based on the content of COIS21001, COIS20025 and COIT29222); and
3. either:
- have two years relevant work experience; or
- have one year other postgraduate education; or
- have attained a final year GPA of 4.7 in their undergraduate degree at an Australian Institution or equivalent.
Part-time program of study
In formulating their program of study candidates who are studying part-time by distance education should give consideration to their work and other commitments, and the prerequisites for advanced courses and if necessary seek advice from the Program Advisor.
Exit Awards (Not available to International Students)
Students who are unable to complete the Master of Information Technology may apply to exit from the program with a Graduate Diploma of Information Technology (48 units of credit) or the Graduate Certificate in Information Technology (24 units of credit). Students wishing to exit with a Graduate Diploma must have successfully completed 6 level one courses. Students wishing to exit with a Graduate Certificate must have successfully completed 3 level one courses.
Workshops
There are no compulsory workshops in this program. However, students are advised that some business courses may require attendance at workshops.
Computer equipment resources
Students will require access to a computer and printer. Access to the Internet is also required for some courses. The suggested minimum requirement is an IBM compatible computer. If buying a new computer, students should purchase the best quality and highest capacity they can afford. CQU campuses have computers, which may be accessed by students on a 24 hour basis.
Transitional Arrangements
COIS20028 Management & Design of Advanced Systems will be treated as equivalent to COIT23004 Software Engineering for progression and graduation requirements.
COIT24001 Software Engineering Project will be treated as equivalent to COIT23004 Software Engineering and 1 unspecified Level 3 Elective for progression and graduation requirements.
Students who complete year 1 of the program in 2007 will be allowed to do one of the 2008 specialisations in place of the specialisations for 2007 provided they meet the pre-requisite structure for the courses in the specialisation.
Students who complete year 1 of the program in 2007 and who elect to do the new (2008) Information Security specialisation must complete an additional level 2/3 elective in place of COIS20027 Digital Telecommunications & Networks.
No student will be disadvantaged by the program changes.
