CU15 - Master of Sustainable Development

Program Aim

This program is designed to:

  • develop an understanding of the multiple meanings of sustainability and the concepts and theories employed in evaluating sustainable options;
  • develop an appreciation and recognition of the diversity of models and options, relating to sustainable development;
  • train students to think systemically and holistically about natural resource management and social and economic development; and
  • cater for students from a variety of backgrounds, both educational and professional and with a wide range of interests.
Program Structure

To satisfy the requirements of this award, students must complete 10 courses/80 units of credit as outlined in the course details. If students choose the project option, they must complete a project (2 courses) as well as 3 courses from one of the streams. If they choose the 'no project' option, they must complete 3 courses from any one of the streams and 2 electives from any of the remaining stream courses on offer. The 5 core courses must be completed within the degree. To provide a foundational basis, the 5 core courses must be taken before, or concurrently with others.

All students are required to complete:

  • 5 compulsory core courses; and
  • students can choose between OPTION 1 or OPTION 2 outlined in the course details.
