CG12 - Bachelor of Business/Diploma of Professional Practice

8 compulsory core courses

Note: students undertaking the Advanced Information Systems Management major are required to complete MATH11246 Quantitative Methods A as one of the courses in their program of study.

Students studying the Human Resources Management or Advanced Human Resources Management majors are required to complete HRMT11010 Organisational Behaviour as one of the courses in their program of study.

Students intending to complete a plan in Economics and Finance MUST take MATH11246 Quantitative Methods A.

plus 12 courses from one of the following categories:
  • 1 x 6 course major from those listed, together with 6 elective courses (of which at least 4 must be at an Advanced Level);
  • 1 x 12 course double major from those listed; or
  • 1 x 12 course advanced major from those listed.

Please note: ONLY 1 specialisation (major) will appear as part of your degree name.

Majors

  • Marketing (graduates may be eligible for membership of the Australian Marketing Institute);
  • Consumer Marketing (graduates may be eligible for membership of the Australian Marketing Institute);
  • Tourism;
  • Entrepreneurship;
  • Human Resources Management;
  • E-Commerce;
  • Commerce;
  • Economics and Finance (graduates may be eligible for membership of the Economics Society of Australia and the Australian Institute of Banking and Finance);
  • Business and Taxation Law;
  • Operations Management (graduates may be eligible for membership of the Australian Institute of Management);
  • Management (graduates may be eligible for membership of the Australian Institute of Management); and 
  • Procurement and Supply.

Double Majors

Advanced Majors

  • Advanced Human Resources Management (program is accredited by Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) - graduates may apply for membership of AHRI);
  • Advanced Marketing Management (graduates may apply for membership of the Australian Marketing Institute and the Australian Market and Social Research Society, and be eligible to receive the Australian Marketing and Social Research Society's Certificate in Market Research upon application to the Society);
  • Advanced Information Systems Management (program is acccredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) - graduates may apply for membership of the ACS); and
  • Advanced Procurement and Supply (program is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) - graduates may apply for membership of CIPS).

  • Not all majors are available at all locations. Check the Plans for business programs page and course availability in this handbook for availability of individual courses.   
  • Elective courses are required to give a total of 25 courses in the completed award.
