CQ05 - Bachelor of Information Technology (Co-op)

Program Aim

The Bachelor of Information Technology (Co-op) provides a distinguished bachelors degree in IT that enables students to acquire valuable experience through a paid, supervised, industry placement. Students normally undertake industry placement following the successful completion of two years (4 terms) of study.  Industry placements are typically of six months duration.

The BIT Co-op provides a solid core of IT courses with a wide choice of electives. At one extreme, a student may select all IT courses for electives; at the other extreme, a student may wish to complete a stream of courses (up to 6) from another faculty. Guidance will be provided on electives that prepare students for employment in a target role. Alternatively, students may explore a range of IT courses and acquire a broadly-based range of skills and experiences.

Program Structure

Students are required to complete:

  • 18 core courses;
  • 2 advanced IT courses; and
  • 6 general electives.
