The STEPS program helps mature age students develop the skills and confidence needed to start a university degree. Most students who complete STEPS gain entry to CQU or another tertiary institution.

About STEPS

Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) is designed to make you an independent, active learner ready to take the next step. Designed for adults (who are 18 years or older and are Australian or New Zealand citizens or those who hold permanent resident or humanitarian visas), this free university preparatory program covers academic communication, mathematics, computing, independent learning skills, study skills and library/ information literacy skills. STEPS is available on campus at CQU Bundaberg, Emerald, Gladstone, Mackay and Rockhampton. The program is offered in various modes dependent on campus - either a full-time (13 weeks) or part-time (26 weeks) day or night time mode - or by Distance Education (26 weeks only).
