Employment opportunities can be found in a variety of health fields such as: sexual health, HIV/AIDS, aged care, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, youth and adolescent health, drug and alcohol services and rural health.
Career options include: health promotion/education program manager, health promotion coordinator/officer, health educator. Employment opportunities exist within local, state and commonwealth government health departments, major non-government organisation), private industry, overseas aid agencies, universities, health related peak bodies, professional associations and international agencies.
About Health Promotion and Education
The multidisciplinary application of this program offers graduates a range of diverse career opportunities in Public Health, Family and Community Health, Health Promotion or Health Education. The core subjects in first year provide students with a comprehensive understanding of health and the factors that influence it. The focus in second and third year is the development of knowledge and skills that will enable the student to plan, implement and evaluate health promotional and health educational programs in a variety of contexts. The 6 electives undertaken, as an integral part of the program, provide students with the opportunity to specialise in an area of interest.
Students who attain an above average academic achievement may be eligible to apply to enter the Bachelor of Health Promotion/Health Education (Honours) program at CQU.
No new enrolments are being taken in this program of study - the program has been replaced by CG14 Bachelor of Health Promotion.
