Program Aim
The Bachelor of Accounting/Bachelor of Business program combines Central Queensland University’s two premier business programs, and is designed to allow students to combine studies in commerce related fields such as accounting, finance and property management with business management fields such as human resources management, information systems mangement and operations management. Students have a very broad range of possible fields of study in this program and a very wide range of career opportunities exist for graduates.
The program is professionally accredited with a number of professional bodies and depending on the major selected, completion of the program meets the requirements for membership of professional organisations such as CPA Australia, ICA Australia, the Association of Taxation and Management Accountants, the Australian Institute of Management, the Australia Institute of Banking and Finance and the Economics Society of Australia – details of membership pathways are given below. The strong professional focus of the degree ensures that upon completion of their program graduates receive not just an academic qualification, but recognition of their skills and knowledge by the peak professional bodies in their chosen field.
Program Structure
To satisfy the requirements for the award, students must complete a program of 32 courses/192 units of credit which comply with the stated requirements. Students must complete:
- 10 Compulsory Core Courses
- 10 Accounting Courses as noted in the Accounting Course List.
- 12 Business Courses, comprising either:
- one 6 course major from those listed for this program, together with six elective courses (of which at least 4 must be at an advanced level)
- one 12 course Double major from those listed for this program.
- one 12 course Advanced major from those listed for this program.
