Program Aim
This program is designed to:
- develop an understanding of the multiple meanings of sustainability and the concepts and theories employed in evaluating sustainable options;
- develop an appreciation and recognition of the diversity of models and options, relating to sustainable development;
- train students to think systemically and holistically about natural resource management and social and economic development; and
- cater for students from a variety of backgrounds, both educational and professional and with a wide range of interests.
Program Structure
To satisfy the requirements of the award, students must complete 6 courses or 48 units of credit as outlined in the course details. Students must undertake 3 core courses and are then required to take 2 courses from one of the streams and 1 elective, which can come from any of the streams. To provide a foundational basis, the 3 core courses must be taken before, or concurrently with others. There is no residential school for any course.
