CU65 - Bachelor of Building Design

Program Aim
This program produces graduates capable of designing, documenting and administering residential and all classes of commercial buildings.

Prospective students are encouraged to talk to the Program Coordinator about exemptions from the program based on previous study or professional experience. The Faculty has established sets of exemptions for holders of selected TAFE qualifications. Students should actively seek employment in the building industry.

Students should note prerequisite requirements and course availability (in this Handbook) when constructing their program. Courses are offered once annually. It is suggested that courses be studied as shown in the Recommended Study Schedule. The loading may be varied to balance work and family commitments. If assistance is required, contact the Program Coordinator.

Career options

Building designer, building interior designer, architectural drafter, construction project manager

Successful completion of this award will satisfy the educational requirement for the Building Design - Low Rise, Building Design - Medium Rise and Building Design - Open licences issued by the Building Services Authority, Queensland.
Program Structure
To satisfy the requirements of the award, students must complete 24 courses or 144 units of credit as outlined below:
  • 8 compulsory courses (Level 1)
  • 8 compulsory courses (Level 2)
  • 8 compulsory courses (Level 3)
