HonoursCK17 - Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Learning Management (Secondary)
Program Aim
This program is a double degree for students to enter the profession of teaching with specialisation in secondary science education (See the CQU Glossary for definition of a double degree, available from http://www.cqu.edu.au/glossary). It provides students with the opportunity to develop as professional teachers through a comprehensive tertiary program and extensive practical experience in schools and the community. This program enables pre-service teachers to prepare themselves to teach a range of secondary science education curriculum areas:
- Biology, Chemistry or Marine Biology to year 12
- Multi-strand science to year 12
- Junior science to year 10
- Mathematics either to years 10 or 12
- other second teaching area to year 10
Curriculum areas are offered depending on the availability of pedagogical studies in education. Graduates are eligible for teaching positions with Education Queensland, Catholic Education and independent schools.

Program Structure
To satisfy the requirements of the award (216 units of credit), students must complete:
- 18 approved courses from the Bachelor of Learning Management (108 units of credit)
- 12-14 courses from Science comprising at least 2 blocks of 6 courses in recognised science teaching areas (Biology, Chemistry, Multi-strand Science, Marine Biology) as specified below (either 72 or 84 units of credit)
- 4-6 courses in another teaching area (Mathematics is recommended) (either 24 or 36 units of credit)
