HonoursCU63 - Associate Degree of Building Design
Program Aim
This program produces graduates capable of designing and drafting residential buildings and commercial buildings up to three storeys high.
Prospective students are encouraged to talk to the Program Coordinator about exemptions from the program based on previous study or professional experience. The Faculty has established sets of exemptions for holders of selected TAFE qualifications. Students should actively seek employment in the building industry.
Students should note prerequisite requirements and term availability (in this Handbook) when constructing their program. Courses are offered once annually. It is suggested that courses be studied as shown in the Recommended Study Schedule. The loading may be varied to balance work and family commitments. If assistance is required contact the Program Coordinator.
Career options
Building designer, building interior designer, architectural drafter.
Successful completion of this award will satisfy the educational requirements for the Building Design - Low Rise and Building Design - Medium Rise licences issued by the Building Services Authority, Queensland.
Program Structure
To satisfy the requirements of the award, students must complete 16 courses or 96 units of credit as outlined below:
- 8 compulsory courses (Level 1)
- 8 compulsory courses (Level 2)
