PSYC14025 Professional Practice of Psychology

Professional Practice of Psychology is a core component of the fourth year of study in Psychology. It aims to build on undergraduate studies in Personality, Abnormal Psychology, Individual Differences and Assessment, and Cross-Cultural Psychology for purposes of examining skills and knowledge that are central to psychological practice. In addition, it introduces students to major ethical issues in psychological practice, and to problems of practising in a socially and culturally pluralistic society. Students also learn how to apply methods and techniques of psychological assessment in professional settings, and about skills of report writing. Finally, students are introduced to a variety of practice settings, and are required to apply their knowledge of ethics and professional issues, assessment, and report writing to professional activities that occur in those settings. It is a requirement of enrolment in the course that students have access to the CQU World Wide Web site via the Internet.
