University Scholarships & Bursaries

Queensland Country Women’s Association, Central Highlands Division Bursary

$500

The annual bursary of $500 will be a once only award to a student who will be continuing full-time study in a program with Central Queensland University. Students enrolled in any program offered by Central Queensland University whose permanent home address is in the Central Highlands of Central Queensland are eligible to apply for the bursary.

Selection will be based on outstanding academic performance, in conjunction with a 500 word supporting statement.

Queensland Alumina Limited Scholarship

$2000

The QAL Scholar will receive $2000 per year for the duration of their program. The scholarship is awarded to a full-time first year student who proceeded from Year 12 in the previous year, whose home is in the Port Curtis Region (Gladstone City, Calliope and Miriam Vale Shires), and who is studying Science, Business or Engineering at CQU.

Australian South Sea Islander Community Foundation Scholarships

Two $5000 scholarships

The Australian South Sea Islander Scholarship Award winner will receive a yearly contribution of $5000 towards their education and living expenses while studying. The scholarship is awarded to an on-campus CQU student of Australian South Sea Islander decent who is motivated to study and complete their initial undergraduate degree.

Faculty of Informatics and Communications Postgraduate and Undergraduate Scholarships

14 x $2000 scholarships and two x $5000 scholarships

There will be a total of 16 Faculty Scholarships offered valued at $2000 each with the exception of the Professor John D Smith Undergraduate and Postgraduate Memorial Scholarships, which are valued at $5000 each.

MBA Scholarships

33% Reduction in Tuition Fees

The scholarship consists of a 33% reduction in tuition fees for Australian residents and international students who choose to study an MBA program, full-time on the Rockhampton campus.

International Student Awards

Capricornia Multicultural Association Student Achievement Award

Medallion and Certificate

Awarded to a graduating overseas student achieving the highest grade point average in an undergraduate overseas degree program completed in minimum time. The student would also be required to produce evidence in the form of a written statement, supported by referees’ reports, of fostering international relations in Rockhampton. No student can receive the award more than once.

Capricornia College Awards

Chancellor’s Medal

$350, University/College Medal, letter of award, and name recorded on Honours Board

The award is offered annually to a current Member of College in recognition of their leadership and community service achievements throughout the year within the College, the University, and the community of Rockhampton.

Vice-Chancellor’s Academic Award

$500, letter of award, and name recorded on Honours Board

The award is offered annually to a current Member of College who was resident in the College for at least the previous two terms and achieved the highest grade point average during this time (whilst studying the equivalent of the full time load).

Capricornia College Scholarships

50% reduction in residential fees

Awarded to a Member of Capricornia College, resident for the entire academic year, achieving a high level of balance and attainment in the following three areas:- (1) Academic achievement - ie. overall academic achievement and/or personal level improvement; (2) Leadership - ie. demonstration of initiative, motivation and encouragement in clubs, groups and/or associations within the College; (3) Participation - ie. involvement with College activities, functions and projects.

Capricornia College/Faculty Award

$350

An award from each Faculty under the terms that the student is a Member of Capricornia College for the entire academic year, and has achieved the highest GPA of Credit or better while undertaking the equivalent of a full-time study load during Winter Term of the previous year, and Autumn Term of the current year.

Student Association Scholarships

The CQU Student Association offers eleven Student Scholarships for undergraduate students. These scholarships are awarded annually and are designed to recognise and acknowledge students whose activities have benefited fellow CQU students or others in the local community.

Certain criteria need to be met before a student can apply for these Scholarships. Nomination forms and information to assist in setting out of the criteria can be obtained from either the Student Association’s Student Assistance Centre on either 07 4930 9656 or email association-service@cqu.edu.au, the Student Association’s Campus Student Services Officers or downloaded from the Student Association’s Website http://association@cqu.edu.au. Applications close in August of each year and are awarded at the annual CQU Student Association Student Presentation Evening held in October every year.

Student Association Sports Scholarships

The CQU Student Association Sports Scholarship program offers financial support for student athletes while they are attending and representing CQU. The goals of this program are to help CQU students complete their University education while still competing in their chosen sport and to improve the quality of CQU’s sporting profile and representation in club and inter-university sport.

Up to eight scholarships will be offered each year. Up to four “full” scholarships worth $2000 each and up to six “half” scholarships of $1000 each will be available, or a mixture of full and half scholarships not exceeding the scholarship budget. Selection of scholarship holders will be made on the last day of the Autumn Semester of each year from applications received on or before Friday, Week 12 Autumn Term, at 4 pm. $200 Awarded to the student who is considered to have the most promising voice for music theatre (Bachelor of Music Theatre).

North Jacklin Nissan Prize

$100 & Certificate Awarded to the best student of jazz at the Conservatorium (Bachelor of Jazz Studies).

Rotary Club of Mackay Prize

$100 Awarded to the best first year student (in any program) at the Conservatorium.

Ted Malone Prize

$150 Awarded to the student who has made the most outstanding progress (Bachelor of Music Theatre & Bachelor of Jazz Studies).
